Matt Mondanile's label may be called New Images, but if "You Must Be Dreaming" is any indication, what we're asked to picture-- here, The Time playing the prom in Pretty in Pink-- is anything but. Even if Recreated Images is more apt, LTD's nostalgia trip is spot-on. You feel the Linndrum snare's gated reverb in your bones, the synth flourishes in your whipping hair, and the Prince-toned guitar solo in your jeans. By now we may have revived the '80s for longer than it existed in the first place, but LTD reminds us that there's a good reason for that-- it seems like emotions felt different in Reagan's day, and they still can with the help of good strings patch.
