In #adhoclifeadvice, we ask artists we love to answer questions from you, our readers. This time around, LA-based songwriter and performer Dent May—who is also a self-described hotel bar lounge singer and aspiring daytime TV talk show host—shares wisdom about finding creative inspiration and focusing on yourself. Dent May plays Market Hotel on July 13 with Shannon Lay.
Funky pop expert Dent May has just dropped a new single from his upcoming album, Warm Blanket. "Let Them Talk" is the second track to be released from the Oxford, Mississippi artist's third full-length, which comes out this month on Paw Tracks. This tune possesses a carefree spirit, conveyed with its danceable bass, guitar, horn riffs, and May's happy-go-lucky lyrics: "I thought about it a million times and I just don't give a fuck." In this context, it's not an angry statement, but one that captures the feeling of freedom that comes with being in love.
Warm Blanket is out August 27 on Paw Tracks, available to pre-order here. Dent May is playing 285 Kent, Brooklyn on October 3 with fellow Mississippi act Dead Gaze.
