War Become VÅR
On Denmark's Liberation Day-- celebrating when the Nazis were pushed out of their occupation of Denmark-- the noisey dance project of Loke Rahbeck and Elias Rønnefelt, the respective frontmen for Sexdrome and Iceage, is changing its name from War to VÅR (translation: "spring"). The name change also marks a new direction for the collaboration as a multimedia project around their childhood friend turned male stripper, Louis Toro. In an interview with Pitchfork's Jenn Pelly, Rahbeck says that "Toro is the best living image of what we try to achieve with our music... it was obvious that we needed him in everything [VÅR] will do". Watch him lounge around and flex his muscles in the video directed by Lower's Kristian Emdal for "In Your Arms (Final Fantasy)" above.
VÅR is prepping a full-length for Sacred Bones to be released next year and, like Iceage last year, will make their US debut at the Northside Festival, which will once again be the only thing worth going to during that weekend. And as previously reported, the band will also play Sacred Bones' showcase at this year's Incubate Festival in Tilburg, which will be really sick.
