Beauty Pill Announce New LP, Premiere First Single

Beauty Pill were local heroes during a pretty bizarre time for the DC music scene— the mostly Fugazi-less aughts. Their debut EP, Cigarette Girl From The Future, set the blueprint for a sound that was equally twisted and pleasant, buoyed by a suave sense of groove but defined by a somewhat sick sense of humor and strange turns of harmony. By the time their debut LP, The Unsustainable Lifestyle, dropped, leader Chad Clark and member Devin Ocampo had also begun becoming more renowned as producers in the scene, helping out with a variety of records within the city and outside it’s limits (Dismemberment Plan, The Evens, Buildings’ Everything in Parallel).

After a brief hiatus, they reunited in 2009 and amicably split from Dischord in 2014. Now they’re prepping their next full-length, Describes Things As They Are, due April 21st on NYC-based Butterscotch Records. The premiere track, “Dog With Rabbit in Mouth Unharmed,” is defined by lush ambience, almost feeling like a geography you slip through more than a song you listen to. You can stream it below, via Soundcloud.

Describes Things As They Are is due out April 21st on Butterscotch Records (who are also prepping an expanded reissue of Cigarette Girl From The Future).
