After a brief, glorious return-- which included an amazing interview with the late Jack Rose-- Arthur Magazine is once again ceasing publication. The idiosyncratic chronicle of counter-culture past and present published three issue on newsprint in 2013 after taking an indefinite hiatus in 2011. Its brief return marked the only time period when then magazine cost money for readers.
There are no further issues of Arthur planned at this time. We’re happy we got to do the three issues we did in 2013, while being able to pay our contributors for the first time ever and fulfill all those old outstanding subscriptions... For many reasons, it’s now time for Arthur to go dormant. Perhaps the mag will sprout again in the future, perhaps not. In any event, we hope we’ve been of some use, and thank everyone who’s been so kind to us.
While the brass at Arthur posits that there may be future issues, the current plan is to trash all back issues that remain unsold by March. You can read the full statement and purchase the publication on Arthur's site.
